God wants us to get into alignment with him.
There is a river flowing from the heart of God, and when you step into it, you will hear what it speaks to the Body of Christ.
This river flows with the movement of times and seasons.
If you are surrounded by discerning Christians who have surrendered to Jesus, you will begin to pick up on the themes of this flow.
Where it flows, we want to go.
You will feel it in your life, and hear about it in theirs.
You will sense the shift within your own world, and recognize it in your church.
You will hear it, know it, and feel it when you are connected to the heart of God.
You can either step into the river and let it take you where it wants to go, or you can fall off the edge of the cliffs surrounding it on each side.
Where the wind blows, is where I want to go.
The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. John 3:8
There is a drawing in, a sealing up, a secret place solitude that the spirit is pulling us into like never before.
“Return to me!” says the Lord.
You will find yourself overwhelmed with noise.
You will feel the urge to realign your priorities.
You will sense the shift in your scheduling.
You will find that you want more of God, less of the world.
You will feel the rhythm of heaven knocking on the door of your heart to sit down, be still, listen in.
For God is speaking like never before.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” Joel 2:28
Can you hear it now?
The rain of heaven?
The dew of the new day as it dawns?
The stampede of grace?
God wants you involved.
He wants to see you there, on that glorious day, when we meet Jesus face to face.
But distraction wars against you.
Opportunity knocks on your door.
Pain and shame and problems pop up like never before.
You feel the pull, and the push.
You want more, but have come to realize that less is more.
Now you’re left in the wake of how to handle that and move forward.
Less is more.
Less is more.
Less is more.
Let it be so, for less is more.
Does it captivate your heart more than God?
Throw it away.
Does it keep you from the secret place?
Run from it.
Does it draw you away from the desires of God?
Demolish it.
Don’t play with fire.
Instead, break bread with the one who came to love you more.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.” Isaiah 40:3
The way is less, and less is more.
Less time on social media.
Less time concerned with lining your pockets.
Less time planning, and scheming, and goal-setting for the year.
More, more, more of Him.
Be filled to overflowing.
Let the vats run wild with the new wine.
Nothing more, nothing less.
God has what is best.
Seek him and you will find him.
It is not found in duty, only desire.
Sit with him.
Be still.
Practice doing nothing but listening to his voice.
Be drawn into intimate worship that does not need to follow a soundtrack or a certain person- only your heart and his.
The desire for intimacy is two-fold-
He desires to drink you deeply, and fill you to overflow.
The flow will break open a new road.
This road cannot be traveled any other way.
It requires time, patience, stillness.
Quiet.
Quiet.
More quiet.
There is none like him.
You must hear his voice - you must!
He desires nothing less, and nothing more.
To know him, hear him, heed him.
There is nothing more.
For there is a day coming, and it is already here, where you will find it harder and harder to hear..
If you do not start right here.
So go slow.
Settle yourself into him.
Say goodbye to all other things.
Hide in him.
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is your refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
Psalm 91
